Upon entering The Greek Theater in Berkeley Ca. the audience was told that Michael Franti and Spearhead
would not be performing that evening. Mr. Franti had a case of appendicitis.

There was a big curtain on the stage representing the "Traveling Circus". When it was time for the curtain to
raise, Adam Duritz came out with work gloves and raised it himself! Unlike other concerts, this show had a 10
minute intermission and the curtain lowered. When the 10 minutes were up, Adam came back out and raised
the curtain. The entire concert was 3 hours long, and worth every entertaining minute!

The Counting Crows and Augustana started off the show singing Van Morrison's classic tune "Caravan" it set
the mood for the rest of the show. The concert was a mixture of cover tunes, Augustana's music and The
Counting Crows. A total of 15 people were on the stage the majority of the show.

At the beginning of the show, The Counting Crows sang a few of their classics, then handed over the stage to
Augustana. Augustana stated "it's hard to follow the Counting Crows, even as long time students". It didn't
matter, they did a wonderful job. If you are having a difficult time thinking of an Augustana tune, try searching for
the song "Boston".

After singing a few of their original tunes, Augustana asked the crowd "Are you tired of this emo bullshit? Then
get up on your feet!" The band sang a tune from Muddy Waters called make love to you, this really got the
crowd going.

When Adam appeared back on stage he stated that a few members from Spearhead were here and going to
join them on stage. He also said there is a song that they never play called "Carriage", but were going to play it
tonight. There was an older man that came unto the stage with a trumpet from the San Francisco Symphony.
What a treat for the ears, the crowd was so mesmerized by all of this interaction between all of these fabulous
musicians.

When Augustana and Adam were both at the microphones Adam told Augustana not to do it. Augustana said
he was going to "When I was in the 4th grade an album came out that changed my life forever by The Counting
Crows". Adam stated; "yeah I was in the 11th grade and very popular". However it happened, Adam and the
crows are marvelous instructors for the young band Augustana.

As you were leaving the show, fans were there handing out free posters from all 3 bands! What a great night, a
show and a SOUVENIR! I read on facebook.com that the Counting Crows were picking fans from facebook  to
hand out these posters. What a great experience for fans!

Thank you to everyone who worked on getting me to this show. All of you were so great to work with!
